(892) Assistant Fees Clerk – Leading Business Crime/Fraud Law Barristers’ Chambers (London EC4)

Our client is an award-winning, leading Barristers’ Chambers with expertise across Business Crime & Fraud, Crime, Inquests & Inquiries, Regulatory & Professional Discipline, International, and Public and Administrative Law. With over 100 barristers, members are instructed on many of the most high-profile and complex cases, often with global reach and significant media attention.

Working within a busy and collaborative Fees Department, Chambers is seeking to appoint an Assistant Fees Clerk. Reporting to the Head of Fees and working closely with the clerking team, barristers and professional clients, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within one of the Bar’s leading chambers. Full training will be provided where required.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, issuing and processing of bills and fee notes
  • Monitor Chambers’ systems to identify unbilled, unassessed and outstanding cases
  • Support fee claims through relevant online billing portals
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure supporting documentation is complete
  • Liaise with solicitors, courts and other organisations to obtain information required for billing and fee recovery
  • Assist with the recovery of outstanding debt by telephone and email
  • Process Magistrates Court fees accurately and efficiently
  • Respond promptly to internal and external enquiries relating to fees
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Fees, clerking team and members of Chambers
  • Provide wider administrative support to the clerking and Chambers teams where required.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have previous clerking or legal administration experience, ideally gained within barristers’ chambers or similar environment. They will possess excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities accurately in a fast-paced environment. A professional and proactive approach, together with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn Chambers’ systems and procedures, are essential. Experience of legal billing, fees administration or credit control would be advantageous, but is not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.
