Working closely with the Senior Criminal Clerk, you’ll take responsibility for managing a group of members (including those based in Oxford), playing a key role in the day-to-day running and future growth of the practice.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing barristers’ practices and diaries with confidence and commercial awareness
- Acting as a key contact for solicitors and clients, advising on availability and suitability
- Negotiating fees and ensuring effective case fixing across criminal matters
- Supporting members’ development through ongoing guidance and practice management
- Contributing to business development and strengthening client relationships
What you’ll bring:
- Around 5+ years’ experience in criminal clerking (or a similar role)
- Strong knowledge of criminal practice, listing procedures and legal aid funding
- Proven fee negotiation skills and sound commercial judgement
- The ability to stay organised and decisive in a fast-paced environment
- A professional, personable approach and a genuine team mindset
