Our client is a leading Barristers’ Chambers with offices in London, Birmingham and Bristol, specialising in many areas of law, including Business and Property, Crime, Immigration and Public Law. With over 250 members, including 41 KC (‘Silks’), No5 is the largest Chambers in the UK. It has developed a reputation for breaking new ground and continues to be regarded as a forward-thinking Chambers.

 

We are working with Chambers to source highly suitable candidates to manage one of its key practice areas, Business and Property (London), together with the Director of Clerking. Based in its thriving and impressive London offices, and reporting to the CEO and Directors of Clerking, the Practice Director will be actively involved in strategy, business development, team management and significant client-facing initiatives.

 

Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate significant exposure to business and relationship development in a similarly successful Chambers’ environment. Candidates should have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, be able to build strong internal and external relationships, and consistently offer a positive attitude at busy times and in challenging circumstances. They will also have excellent time management and a keen eye for detail.

 

The Role

Duties include:

  • Strategy and long-term planning for Group members in conjunction with Directors of Clerking and the Head/Deputy Head of Group.
  • Significant diary management
  • Propose, negotiate and agree on fees for senior members
  • Supervise, mentor and develop junior B&P team colleagues (in London)
  • Building and maintaining relationships with existing clients
  • Create and build relationships with new clients
  • Marketing/BD of Group members with a key focus on London/South East
  • Hosting successful events/seminars in line with the long-term strategic goals of the group
  • Having oversight of the following day’s work is in order
  • Achieving the goals as set out by barristers in their PDMs
