Our client is a large and dynamic Barristers’ Chambers with a team of staff who provide the clerking, financial, marketing and administrative support for over 190 barristers. They are a diverse set, specialising in all aspects of human rights and social welfare law, including crime, family law, housing, immigration, and civil law Chambers is based in modern offices in EC4.
After a period of growth, Chambers is seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious person to support and develop their successful and growing Immigration team. The ideal candidate will have experience in immigration or other areas of civil law in either solicitors firm or within a Barristers Chambers. This is a full time role and will suit a confident, friendly and proactive individual with good understanding of the relevant areas of law who works well as part of the team. You will be joining a dynamic and supportive clerking team at a very exciting time.
Duties include:
- Upkeep of diaries, ensuring barristers are aware of commitments and undertaking future booking troubleshooting
- Case administration including arranging and booking in cases
- Negotiating fees and finalising funding for cases
- Attending Practice Review Meetings and assisting the Senor Immigration Practice Manager in following up actions from Practice Review Meetings
- Attending events to network with contacts and develop business
- Assisting the Senior Immigration Practice Manager to source and act on leads in developing new relationships
Person Specification
- A minimum of 5 years of clerking or equivalent experience gained in immigration or other area of civil law, including diary management, liaising with solicitors and court staff
- Experience in negotiating case fees
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Experience of building and developing professional relationships with solicitors is desirable
