Working closely with the Senior Criminal Clerk, you’ll take responsibility for managing a group of members (including those based in Oxford), playing a key role in the day-to-day running and future growth of the practice.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing barristers’ practices and diaries with confidence and commercial awareness
  • Acting as a key contact for solicitors and clients, advising on availability and suitability
  • Negotiating fees and ensuring effective case fixing across criminal matters
  • Supporting members’ development through ongoing guidance and practice management
  • Contributing to business development and strengthening client relationships

What you’ll bring:

  • Around 5+ years’ experience in criminal clerking (or a similar role)
  • Strong knowledge of criminal practice, listing procedures and legal aid funding
  • Proven fee negotiation skills and sound commercial judgement
  • The ability to stay organised and decisive in a fast-paced environment
  • A professional, personable approach and a genuine team mindset
