Our client, a highly regarded Civil Barristers’ Chambers with an excellent reputation across its key practice areas, is seeking to recruit an Assistant Practice Manager. Chambers is recognised for outstanding client care and the high calibre of its clerking team, and this appointment offers an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Working closely with the Practice Manager, Practice Director and Chambers Director, the Assistant Practice Manager will play a central role in supporting Members’ practices, ensuring the efficient running of the diary, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts. This position carries significant responsibility and provides excellent scope for progression.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Receiving and making calls to clients, providing a professional and responsive service
- Advising clients on suitable Counsel, availability, and fee levels
- Booking hearings, conferences and commitments into Members’ diaries and monitoring the mailbox
- Chasing briefs and instructions to ensure Members have adequate preparation time
- Developing, maintain and enhancing relationships with current and prospective clients
- Obtaining court listings and updating Members accordingly
- Preparing dates to avoid, fixing hearings and liaising with courts as required
- Participating in Marketing events and initiatives as required
Ideal Candidate
Suitable individuals will ideally have 5+ years’ experience in a reputable Chambers, with a strong understanding of clerking operations and a commitment to delivering excellent client service. Candidates should be highly organised, proactive and adaptable, with exceptional communication skills and a confident approach to managing a busy and varied workload. A positive attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships are essential.
