Our Client, The London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”), is one of the world’s leading institutions assisting in the administration of international commercial arbitration, mediation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. In addition to its dispute administration services, the LCIA conducts a worldwide program of conferences, seminars, and other events of interest to the arbitration and ADR community.

Following a period of considerable growth in the use of arbitration as the preferred method of international dispute resolution, there has been a considerable increase in demand for the LCIA’s services. As a result, it is recruiting two Caseworker Administrators to join its highly personable and effective team, which is responsible for the day-to-day administration of cases.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Counsel of their team, each Casework Administrator will have their own docket of cases. Day-to-day, the role of the Casework Administrator includes;

  • supervising casework accounting matters in liaison with LCIA accounting staff
  • liaising with arbitrators to receive their fee notes (invoices) and receipts
  • communicating with arbitrators and their assistants in relation to their fees and other case-related matters, including awards and the termination of proceedings
  • monitoring, forecasting and reporting the financial status of cases
  • working closely with Counsel on the financial aspects of their cases, escalating issues where necessary
  • preparing budgets for costs and calculating required Advance Payments for Costs
  • updating the LCIA’s internal case management system

The Person

Highly suitable candidates will ideally possess 2-5 years’ relevant experience in a similar legal/ADR/professional environment, and be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills relevant to the functions contained within the detailed JD.

They will be highly numerate, meticulously organised, able to work well under pressure, proactively prioritise tasks, multi-task and be reliable. They will possess an acute attention to detail, have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels, with clients, colleagues and other outside organisations. A proficient knowledge of Spanish or French is helpful, although not essential.
