Our client is one of the largest and most successful barristers’ chambers in the UK. Following rapid expansion in recent years, they now have over 200 barristers supported by a busy operations team. They are recognised as leaders in criminal defence, civil liberties, housing, immigration, family and public law. Their passion for human rights and social justice has shaped the development of law in these areas over the last 50 years, and this is reflected in their ground-breaking cases, which hit the news headlines every week.

Chambers is now seeking an experienced Credit Controller from the legal industry, to work as part of their Revenue Control Team.  In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking accurate and efficient billing for the Practice Team, to meet the operational requirements of the Barristers and delivering a high level of customer services at all times.

The successful candidate will work with the Barristers to implement changes to existing working practices and initiate improvements in the use of the Case Management software to encourage prompt billing and improve debt recovery procedures.

Duties include:

  • Chasing debts for payments in accordance with agreed payment terms and applicable guidelines
  • Ensuring collections are actioned in an efficient and prompt manner
  • Liaising with Barristers and colleagues to facilitate payment
  • Resolving queries in a timely and profession manner
  • Identifying areas for continuous improvement in the collections process
  • Supporting the Billing Team on an adhoc basis

 Person Specification:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Must be confident in making telephone calls for fees collection
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to develop new skills
  • A calm, patient approach to work in a very busy environment
  • Ideally with a knowledge of Legal Aid
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assimilate information
