Business development

As the Bar, its business and work streams have changed, business development has become one of the most important elements of chambers’ business strategy.

GRL’s business development team is led by Nick Rees and Sheena Byrne. Sheena is a qualified solicitor and business development professional who has worked with leading law firms, barristers’ chambers and professional representative bodies expanding and promoting businesses for over 15 years.

The team are experts in the development, implementation and delivery of business strategy, working in partnership with members of the Bar and executive management teams. We are familiar with the unique culture and requirements of the Bar and are perceptive and knowledgeable about current developments at the Bar and their impact, working most effectively with clients in anticipating their needs.

We provide bespoke business development services designed to assist with the building of recognised branding and PR, including extensive work around the legal directories and in the development of new and additional work streams, which includes direct access.

We also work with chambers seeking to create or further develop their business development and marketing teams by providing a range of recruitment services. Our team also delivers training and development services for individuals and teams responsible for chambers’ business development and marketing functions.

We also deliver tailored services for projects alongside executive and management teams as well as individual barristers.

 

Establishing an education and conference centre

A primary legal institution within the Inns of Court sought assistance in establishing the commercial viability of plans to construct a modern conference/ education centre within its Grade 1 listed precincts. A particular aspect to establish was the extent to which a number of legal organisations might use such a facility.

Legal directories – getting it right

GRL was approached by a large commercial set of Chambers looking for assistance with the legal directories process. This had previously been managed internally with some success but the Chambers Director was exploring alternative options for executing this annual task.
