Our client, Serle Court, is a leading Chambers with 69 barristers, including 27 King’s Counsel. Chambers is highly regarded and has consistent tier 1 rankings in the leading legal directories for its legal and advocacy expertise in each of its specialist practice areas across the whole remit of Commercial and Chancery Law for both domestic and international clients.
Following a period of sustained growth, Chambers now seeks to appoint a highly suitable, personable individual to the position of Senior Practice Manager. This important role offers the successful candidate significant responsibility, including deputising for the Practice Director, in one of two outstanding, highly personable, practice management teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Practice Management
- Reinforce the Practice Director’s leadership of the clerking team
- Assist with day-to-day management responsibility for the clerking team, including mentoring and development of junior team members
- Fees proposal, negotiation and agreement
- Significant involvement in business development and marketing opportunities
- Relationship management and development
- Practice development and practice review
- Significant client, court and member communications
Person Specification
- IBC qualifications such as ILM/BTEC or graduate level
- Ideally, 10+ years’ experience in another leading civil Chambers
- Accomplished relationship builder (internal and external)
- strong mentoring capability
- Demonstrates leadership
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly personable, friendly, team-focussed worker with a ‘can do’ attitude
- A flexible approach to the working day
- Hardworking, resilient, and reliable, with pride in delivering a high-quality service, whether working alone (with minimal supervision) or with others
- Enthusiastic and attention to detail
