Our client, Serjeant’s Inn Chambers, is a leading civil law Barristers’ Chambers specialising in high-profile medical, police, professional discipline, regulatory, business & specialist crime and public law cases, often involving important legal, ethical and social issues.

Barristers and staff adopt a professional, progressive and friendly approach.  In the last five years, Serjeants’ Inn has expanded its silk team from 9 to 24KCs, recruited 34 new tenants and won 31 awards.  Chambers was one of the first sets to be awarded the Bar Council’s Certificate for Excellence in Well-Being. They were also recognised in Legal Cheek’s review, which noted that “Members here work on real issues, affecting real people in the most fundamental of ways, meaning there is never a dull moment”.

Members of its award-winning staff team play a vital part in the success of the set and Chambers is seeking bright, highly motivated individuals to join their Marketing team. Chambers has an excellent record of developing its staff and promoting from within.

The role

The precise nature of the responsibilities allocated to this role will be determined once the successful candidate has been selected.  They are likely to include assisting with client service initiatives in addition to a range of event management, marketing and administration activities including:

  • Facilitating internal and external events: webinars, seminars and conferences;
  • Production of mailshots and social media posts;
  • Maintenance and updating of Chambers’ website and blogs;
  • Collation of annual submissions to the legal directories;
  • Social media and website analytics;
  • Market research projects;
  • CRM and data management;
  • Assisting the clerking or administration teams when needed: taking switchboard calls, meeting arrangements, diary management, printing, court runs, etc;
  • ad hoc project work;
  • ad hoc admin as required.

Person specification

  • Strong communication and organisational skills along with a willingness to learn and accept feedback;
  • The ability to adapt and prioritise competing demands in the context of a busy and changing workload;
  • An excellent manner with colleagues, clients and contacts;
  • A calm and cheerful approach, even under pressure;
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs;
  • Confidence in discussing ideas and making suggestions.

Successful applicants are likely to have been educated at degree-level, but we also warmly welcome candidates without such qualifications who can demonstrate that they have the necessary skills and approach to make a success of the role. Knowledge or experience of the legal profession would be helpful but is definitely not a pre-requisite.
