Our client is a leading Barristers’ Chambers providing legal services in the fields of Construction and Engineering, Energy, Natural Resources and Utilities, IT and Telecommunications and Shipbuilding.

Chambers is seeking to recruit a Junior Clerk to join their dynamic and friendly team. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support and assistance to the practice management team in providing a professional clerking service to Members of Chambers. Previous experience is desirable, but applications will be considered for new entrants to the clerking profession. In addition, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate that they are able to work well in a high-pressure environment.

Some of the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of hard copy and electronic bundles from papers submitted by the barristers’ clients.
  • Assisting the barristers with the delivery of their documents and legal matter to and from court and other venues attended by barristers for hearings.
  • Assisting the barristers with their administrative requirements in preparation for court hearings.
  • Sourcing case authorities, both hard and soft copies from legal libraries. Chambers has its own library, but for certain information, barristers rely on legal libraries outside of Chambers.
  • Supporting the clerking team in the administration of barristers’ work by entering relevant case data into LEX, chambers’ electronic diary and finance system.
  • Running reports from LEX to provide financial and marketing analytics to inform chambers’ business planning.
  • General administrative tasks that you might be asked to complete from time to time
