(601) Head of Finance – Leading Barristers’ Chambers

Our client is a highly regarded specialist Barristers’ Chambers with a formidable reputation and is recognised for excellence across all its key practice areas. Members of Chambers and Staff are also acknowledged for providing outstanding client service.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the ‘Head of Finance’ has significant responsibility supporting the management and delivery of Chamber’s operational financial obligations. Working as part of the senior leadership team, they will also provide detailed information, analysis, and insight to enable the provision of a professional financial service throughout Chambers.

Our client is now seeking an individual with the energy, skills, and ability to successfully lead and inspire its finance team.

 The role:

  • Financial planning and strategy.
  • Preparation of management accounts and detailed budgeting and reporting.
  • Assessing, managing, and minimising financial risk.
  • Management and on-going development of the finance team
  • Analysing, reporting, and forecasting on key financial performance indicators and trends.
  • Financial management – ensuring accountability, acting as Chambers’ ‘money laundering officer’.
  • Ensuring development of robust financial systems and processes – ongoing review.

Person Specification:

  • CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified and with relevant financial management experienced gained in a similarly fast paced professional environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation and delivery of management accounts.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills capable of leading and influencing others successfully.
  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to collate and present detailed information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience of identifying, recommending, and implementing operational improvements.
  • Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Quickbooks) and payroll systems.

Suitable applicants will be ambitious, fully committed, and be capable of working with minimum supervision. They must be calm under pressure, highly organised and capable of delivering to tight and often competing deadlines.  They will also need to be robust, tactful and deliver their role with a positive approach.
