£40k-£45k plus benefits, including 2 days per week remote working
Our client is one of the largest and most successful barristers’ chambers in the UK.
Chambers is seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious person to assist and support their Family Practice Team. The successful candidate will have clerking experience in a Barristers’ Chambers, ideally in dealing with cases in Family Practice areas.
The Role:
- Case administration including arranging and booking in cases, conferences and meetings, and accurately recording fair allocation of work
- Primary management of Family law team diary and email inbox, ensuring barristers are aware of commitments and undertaking future booking troubleshooting
- Negotiating fees and finalising funding for cases including those cases funded privately, by legal aid, CFAs and those requiring costs budgeting
- Attending team meetings and practice management meetings with individual barristers (under the lead of Family Practice Manager)
- Deputising for Senior Practice Manager when required
Business Development
- Handling existing client portfolio and maintaining excellent communication and loyalty
- Assisting the Senior Practice Manager to source and act on leads in developing new relationships
- Working in collaboration with marketing staff and clerking team to organise campaigns and events
- Attending events to network with contacts and develop business
Person Specification:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience of clerking experience (at least part of which will have been in family law), including diary management, fees negotiation, confidently liaising with solicitors and court staff.
- Good systems knowledge, especially Case management systems
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
