The Candidate:

This is a starter position, providing organisational and administrative support to assist with the efficient running of the Practice Management Team.  The role is predominately office based with regular outdoor task requirements (involving manual handling). The successful candidate will be working under the management and direction of the Senior Practice Manager, working with and supporting the clerks and wider staff team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Answering the telephone in a professional manner, directing calls to the appropriate person or taking a clear message, providing an efficient service at all times.
  • Accompanying barristers to and from court with their papers and any other outdoor activity as required.
  • Recording receipt of briefs/instructions and other case related information into the case management diary system (LEX).
  • Processing case related queries arising and referring to the appropriate person, ensuring notes are made on the case management system.
  • Billing barristers work done as directed by the Senior Practice Manager.
  • Undertaking any task as may reasonably be required from time to time by senior staff.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Education to A level standard is desirable.
  • Experience of working in barristers’ chambers would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.
  • Highly organised, with excellent spoken and accurate written communication skills.
  • Excellent standard of IT literacy and familiarity with common software products (in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams & Zoom).
