Our client is a leading Barristers’ Chambers with offices in Bristol, Birmingham and London, specialising in many areas of law including, Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Planning, Regulatory and Public Law. With 260 members, including 41 KCs (‘Silks’), it is the largest Chambers in the UK. It has developed a reputation for breaking new ground and continues to be regarded as a forward-thinking Chambers.

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a hard-working, energetic and self-starting individual to join the Bristol team. This opportunity would suit someone looking to take their Chambers’ career to the next level with greater responsibility and more senior duties. Suitable candidates will ideally have 1 year’s experience or more in another Chambers or similar legal/professional services environment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they have excellent people skills, be able to build strong internal and external relationships, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude in challenging circumstances. They will also have excellent time management and a keen eye for detail.

The Role

Duties include:

  • Scheduling conferences and hearings
  • Negotiating Barristers’ fees, assessing and entering fees/data
  • Marketing (via professional media such as LinkedIn and in person)
  • Business development/assisting in Chambers’ business development initiatives
  • Maintaining excellent client relationships
  • Effective and efficient diary management
  • General administration
  • Liaise with instructing solicitors as to appropriate counsel for new instructions
  • Management and distribution of incoming communications and instructions
