Our client, a leading Barristers’ Chambers whose members specialise in commercial and employment law, is seeking to recruit a Practice Manager to join their forward thinking and friendly team.
The Role
This important role manages the day-to-day running of barristers’ practices and has responsibility, with other staff team members, for the development of members’ highly specialist practices. It includes business development and marketing activities for defined practice areas and Chambers as a whole, including the development of client relationships.
Duties include:
- Ensuring that the clerking function provides an effective and efficient service to members of Chambers, solicitors and other professional clients at all times.
- Overseeing all aspects of diary management eg fixing hearings, conferences, recording of deadlines and advising solicitors of counsel’s availability.
- Ensuring compliance with all BSB requirements and other relevant professional fiscal and regulatory requirements relevant to the management of Chambers and to the practices of individual members.
- Driving practice development, for example through meetings with members to establish a progressive and effective, long-term approach to practice development, career targets
- Working collaboratively with the barristers and staff team colleagues to support the activities of Chambers’ practice groups and the implementation of objectives and strategies as set by business plans.
- Being an ambassador for Chambers: network, building strong relationships with clients and supporting relevant BD and marketing activities.
- Supervising and mentoring the more junior clerking team members.
The Person
Suitable candidates will have a significant track record working in a similarly reputable Barristers’ Chambers (5+ years), together with a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of managing the practices of barristers. You will also have knowledge of the compliance and regulatory aspects relevant to working in a Barristers’ Chambers. This client-facing role also requires an understanding and previous experience in marketing and business development initiatives and processes.
The role attracts a highly competitive salary of up to £60k plus bonus and benefits. Flexible/remote working is also offered.
