Our client is one of the largest and most successful barristers’ chambers in the UK. Following rapid expansion in recent years, they now have 190 barristers supported by a busy operations team. They are recognised as leaders in criminal defence, civil liberties, housing, immigration, family and public law. This is reflected in their ground-breaking cases, which hit the news headlines every week.

Chambers is now seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious person to assist and support their Direct Access Practice Team. The successful candidate will have clerking experience in a Barristers’ Chambers, ideally in dealing with direct access cases.

The Role:

  • Dealing with telephone enquiries from new and existing clients and making telephone notes
  • Undertaking all necessary checks such as ID checks and money laundering legislation compliance
  • Drafting Client Care Letters
  • Liaising with barristers in finalising Client Care Letters
  • Liaising with clients in relation to CCLs and payments
  • Diarising key dates and ensuring reminders are sent to relevant parties
  • Diary management and booking meetings/conferences
  • Providing technical support for video conferencing
  • Other tasks as allocated by the Direct Access Team Solicitor from time to time

Person Specification:

  • Ideally 3-5 years of clerking, experience, including diary management, fees negotiation
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Interested in developing knowledge of the clerked practice areas
  • Ability to deal with difficult or vulnerable clients
